Maya Garcia is thrilled to be joining the teaching team at Centerstage after several years as a student and volunteer. By day, she works as a water engineer, but she finds the most joy in the time she spends on stage, behind the scenes, and teaching. She studied theatre throughout high school and college, serving as her high school drama club president and earning the Dr. Cox Theatre Award.
Maya began performing in middle school and has since been involved in over a dozen productions with local community theatres. She has performed at the Smithsonian during college, the 2012 World Scout Jamboree in Sweden, and at multiple weddings. Favorite roles include the Leading Player in Pippin, Sponge in James and the Giant Peach, and Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast (Centerstage Alumni Cast). She has taken voice, acting, and dance lessons since high school and continues to learn from incredible mentors like the amazing Ms. April—a friend Maya has looked up to ever since watching her perform in their middle school talent show.

Maya is deeply grateful for the warm welcome from the staff and students at Centerstage. Theatre has always been a place where she could be her exuberant self and feel loved and accepted—and she hopes to pass that joy and positivity on to every student she teaches.
